Below is the actual letter used to request
interviews for the pre-campaign planning study we conducted for

We need your advice and guidance.
Over the last 16 years, Good Shepherd
Food-Bank has distributed almost 100,000,000 pounds of food to
Maine’s 16 counties. We work with almost 400 non profit agencies
to assure food distribution to hungry people and we are Maine’s
primary recipient of donated food from national manufacturers and
local food companies.
Unfortunately, we turn away dozens of
truckloads of free food each year simply because our Statewide
Distribution Center is not large enough to process and store all
of the available, donated food. Our focus is on upgrading our
state-wide distribution center so that we can accept all of the
food that is offered to us.
To solve these challenges, we are
considering launching a $2,000,000 capital campaign. As part of
our consideration, we have retained Capital Quest, a fund raising
consulting firm. The associates of Capital Quest have conducted
capital campaigns for food banks throughout the country.
Enclosed is a detailed Information Statement
outlining the benefits and needs associated with these plans.
As a leader in our state, we would like your
opinion and advice concerning this campaign. I want to emphasize
that this is not a solicitation for funds but instead our
effort to evaluate all of the options available to us so that we
can stop turning away nutritious food.
Would you consider meeting with a
representative of Capital Quest to share your advice and guidance
about our plans, our community, and a capital campaign?
This meeting would take about 30 minutes.
We will be calling within a few days to
arrange a convenient time. I appreciate you taking the time to
provide us with this guidance and advice. Thank you.
Sincerely,
